Usual thing + rojak...

Hai, I am here again...after quite a long while...haha...someone made a complaint that all my recent stuffs are very lame and dry...yes, I admit that...as all are about my studies items...but what to do la...I can write something else...but takes times to create stories or something in kind...haha...bear it nia la...

Another thing I just wanna post up, my "school" is just rediculous and money faced.
They gave ACCA students complementary english lessons, however every student is required to buy the materials at RM18. And for those who had done Form 6 MUET with band 5 or band 6 (or other similiar capacity at international level) had an option whether want to join the class or not. These are all no big deal.

What is really stupid is that the way they collect the money. Last week was the first lessons in stage for all students. And you know what, they say all items must be collected latest by last friday, which I only came to the knowledge yesterday after an "incident", whereby I was trying to log on to the school computer to have some internet assess that is not available in my hostel. Initially, I thought I had typed the wrong log on info as I really typed something wrong...then the screen pop up a message stating that my account was disabled. Having fine with that, I go to the computer department to seek for assistant as I thought it was blocked due to that reason as in most common cases...who knows they said it shall be due to financial reasons as they never set that "common rules" in their computers system.

Done with that, I go to the financial department to check it out. In the end, is the RM18 that they are talking about! really sien and ridiculous. How can you expect all the students to clear the "debts" within the first week with the fact that some students havent even had their first lesson yet??!! Nonsense and rubbish. But anyway, I gonna to see later whether it is unblocked or not...wahaha...

Yesterday just having read through the Bookfest catalogue, really nice bargains to be grab during the exhibition at KLCC exhibition hall on next month. Let's see what else that they have to offer, with more than 1 million copies of books and other multimedia related items on display; I hope to grabs some nice bargains on casual reading materials. But anyway, what's more important is that since they had a vast area for English books and they stated there that there are publisher from UK to be participant in the event, I do hope to see some academic materials from UK (ACCA or something in kind) at discounted prices....

One month had passed, and the lecturers are progressing faster and faster; and I think that shall mark the revision count down towards exams...anyway, just hope everything goes accordingly...haha...

Something on customers' appraisal....

Well, as far as a business entity going concern is being taken into account for; I believe customers' appraisal is the key of "survival"...if you cant make the customers happy or refused to listened and act hospitably towards their request(s) and and demand(s), in the end business's sales or reputation and goodwill that are definitely going to suffer.

First of all, I would like to give MAS a good credit on customers' feedback matters. Few months backed I wrote in to them (due to something that they had done regarding the flight scheduling which is not so appealing) to complain something. They did get back to me giving some explanations towards my question.

I did drop off a suggestion of requesting them to review one of MASWings' RAS services in Sabah & Sarawak as I feel that it shall be retimed for the conveniences of the public, particularly those seek immediate connection from west Malaysia. And yesterday I came to acknowledge that they are going to retimed one's of it's flight time in the near future, bringing it more closely to the time during the earlier MAS era.

Anyway, they didnt really get my point; thus hoping that the to be three additional weekly frequencies shall be timed for these purpose mentioned. Anyhow, thumbs up for them to really listen and valued customers' feedback despite the fact that I had heard quite a number of people talking about their onboard hospitality which is not so reflected as it shall be in the ads (I do agree to a certain extent, but anyway if they gave what I shall be entitiled for onboard, it is OK with me whether they do smile or not or whether they could really actually acting promptly to your onboard request or not; for me I just want a value for money flight...).

Looking at some other entity it is the other way round. When someone talking to them, they just like...seem talking like a robot, with no tones, not so "friendly" faces, even dont care about customers' request...which is quite....(no need to say much la)...

My point is just: Valued the feedback of customers, all entities! Like a chinese saying goes: "Customers are the ultimate bosses". It is them who shall enable your businesses to be going concern.

(PS: Anyway, I personally DO NOT like those shops who are "over hospitalised"; meaning upon you step into their shop(s), they would just simply "following" you, asking you in the first place what are you looking for, there is NO FUN of shopping at all in such place, please! My point is that what for I step into your shop looking around when I already really know the exact item(s) that I want to buy?! right? And it is even more rude when a cashier ask is that all that you want to buy when you actually only got one or two items to buy!)

Guess that's all, just painting about something about "consumers' right", haha.

Qualified for life

(PS: Apparently, I dont know what happened to my hostel connection; Internet is being made available, but then it refused to bring me to this posting page yesterday after I had attempted a few times of opening it. Now using campus wireless facilities. Anyway, here it comes; the longest prose probably in my blogging history.)

Well, for those of you out there who are well converse with professional qualifications; this slogan shall sound familiar to you, it's ACCA icon anyway if you dont know this.

Practically, my intention here is to “bombard” something from what professional qualifications students should have been enjoying. Well, as the three words suggest; it would mean that once a person had obtain the qualification with relevant and sufficient practical experiences, then he or she shall be well converse with the accountancy and business world or any other place where accountancy knowledge are required.

Looking back at those tuition providers that we had in ours nation, Malaysia; not many achieved official accreditation from ACCA (The ALP programme). But then after really entering into a well known institution that had produced vast high flying graduates within ACCA programmes, I begin to realise something which is quite diverted from my (and I believe most of others students out there) initial believe(s).

The ALP (Approved Learning Partner) programme do give a vivid indication of how that particular institution performed in ACCA over the past years. But then we, as public doesnt really know what are the exact criteria(s) of awarding such recognition; thereby misleading may occur as basis of assessment really were unclear to public.

From my “analysis” over the past three weeks and from those “experiences” that I had during CAT eras, the conclusion that is VERY vivid and true in nature is that in order for a lecturer really to qualify to teach professional qualification; not only that he or she should have been graduated within the same capacity (any professional certification), he or she shall also possessed sufficient practical experiences in a real business world in order to really being capable to teach students in terms of the application of those knowledge specified in each subject.

Maybe you would say this is too demanding, true enough that I think this is very demanding; but then this is the “real business” of what a lecturer can or cannot give. I do see a few already that those had good exposure to the business world really capable of delivering the lessons more lively, professionally, applicable to real life (in a sense that you can see what are those topics / learning objectives are meant for outside there). On the other hands, those doing something not related or teach immediately after graduated will be slightly not that good and efficient enough though he or she might struggling hard to make sure everyone do understand what is being taught and hoping that after years of “in house exposure”, he or she is capable of producing high flyer's in exams. But then, the fact is that this normally would work to the maximum.

This is really what I am having now. The costing teams (I meant to say those who teach cost and management accounting) appeared to be not so strong to me. Not only that they are not being able to teach in fluent English with sufficient content inside it. The thing that I really cant stand is that how can they simply teach a few pointers about a certain principle then go straight to Q&A session despite that the real textbook(s) had a few pages to reveal the underlying principle?! What even more funny and crazy is that they provided us with BPP Professional Education's kits questions.

For your information, ACCA had two official publisher; namely Kaplan Publishing and the mentioned above. Kaplan publishing had a relatively easier exams kits questions bank but a more hard to comprehen texts. BPP is exactly the reverse way of Kaplan, having user friendly texts but you would have a tough time of working through their questions ---- extremely demanding. Now that with a few pointers and questions from BPP as guided examples, I dont really know how to learn through that way.

My other friend who came along from Miri had chosen another class also experienced the same thing, they are just experiencing simply the identical approaches. The only difference is that that lecturer talk “Mars Language” and mine talk “Human / Earth Language”. Looks like we shall have a tough time for costing paper despite the fact that it is my favourite areas for accounting in CAT eras as I was able to score far more better than financial accounting and taxation during that time. I think the only way to do is having more reading and practice with those official texts (since this institution wrote their own text) and exam kits, the only thing is cost and time to be consumed.

Corporation and Business Law class is fun, as the lecturer can do a good story telling; but then thinking of exams of that really make me sick, all the things are legal terms in nature and you should know that laws speaks differently from human. I just have no ideas yet of how to crunch those pieces into the memory centre of a person's brain despite the fact the she had taught the analytical techniques of tackling those questions. Anyway, the other main trouble is the lack of additional resources which are particularly meant for this subject. Though they had produced a nice thick text for us as the “sole bible” for the time being, but the information are everywhere; not that nice for the purpose of reading for exams.

Taxation classes are pretty good and I enjoyed much of it, just that this is a stressful job as the content meant to the covered are the top for this semester. Anyway, with some solid ground (not that solid though) from CAT; this shall make the journey a little bit more easy in term of comprehension. But my friend claimed that her lecturer is not that good enough though she like the class also. Yesterday she popped me up with a question via MSN whether I am satisfied of what I am getting as a “stakeholder --- the student”, I was like pretty surprising as backed in few months when I was still undecided for where to sign up; she still say this is the best, but then now she changed the perception already, even told me that considering to transfer for another institution that receives much more credit from part timers but receiving a slightly lower “grade” from the ALP programme.

In the end, my conclusion is that Platinum or Gold status is of nothing; it is just the performances measurement taken by ACCA and meant as a guideline only. In the end, it is the working adults comment who pursue part time for professional qualification that shall count as they might have a clearer picture of what to be demanded for from the course and institution.

Anyway, just tried it out smart and hard for a year first; if everything can be secured within first attempt and I can really build a strong confident in what Professional level lecturers can give (rather next 3 papers of F level also), then will go ahead to strike for the end goal or else maybe need to think of opting for OBU and gain the 3 years practical first...see how it's go as time lapsed...hope can survive through...sigh...maybe this is really the end consequences of having too much private institutions in Malaysia that makes the rivalry so clear; resulting the quality of tutors are really hard to determined by any possible means. Even you got the means to give some assessment, it might also turn up the other way round.

BIG BANG NEWS FOR EAST MALAYSIAN...WAKAKA!

Just finished by Taxation questions just now, 4 questions simply took me 2-3 hours; really terrible....

The gun of rushing is on the mark, mostly will start off soon...anyway need to start to cope with the "refreshment" process....

Well, just to share something; F5 lecturer really cant "contribute" much; perhaps we need to do extras for ourselves in order to secure a pass at least.....wahaha...

Malaysia Airlines is having sales again...and this time is only for five days....perhaps, erm....let's make a prediction; this weekend might have weekend special again...wakaka....see correct or not on Saturday....

Nothing much to say, simply want to type something in a more casual way...haha...not like previous three, really got something to share, hehe...

H1N1 topping up....good sign or bad sign?

Ever since the first case of H1N1 was being reported in Malaysia, the figure had been "climbing up" ever since, with now at a cumulative figure of 600+ within about month plus...well, doesnt really know whether this is really worth worrying or not; but then to me, I think we shall being thankful that there had not been fatal cases being reported ever since the first case being reported (hope this is true)....

Compared to ours' nearest neighbouring country, Thailand had already some fatality; Singapore's cases are already running in 4 digits and etc....I think is is still not so bad...but then it doesnt meant that no precautionary measures are required....just that Malaysian tend to have a "natural fear by media coverage"....

Just keep and eyes on self hygiene will be enough liao and avoid getting close contact with others....

PPSMI (Mathematics and Science in English)...

Well, in accordance to my expectation; the government had officially decided to call off this issue in stages beginning the calendar year of 2012...eveything shall turn backwards to the old system as it was 6 years ago...Primary schools having mother languages as medium of instruction while secondary schools shall be using the national languages -- Bahasa Malaysia. As for Pre-U studies, they retained it to be in English.

But then what makes me sounds weird is that why should Primary four and Form 4 being involved in the re-transformation process as if this take place, they shall being making a "U turn" half way of the learning process, would they be able to cope with the chances? I doubt it.

Anyhow, since this is the decision; everyone should follows also. As over the years, not much people supported the ideas, majority concerning primary schools kids...in which they didnt know so much about English yet...and we as adults are expecting them to learn new fields in a language which is new to them...it is quite a burden...given the facts that what we are "feeding" them today...in my own opnion, this is really too much...

But then, for secondary; they also decided to revert it back to the olden days style, using Malay to deliver the two subjects concerned. Well, to someone out there maybe very astonishing as reported in papers this two days...but me personally doesnt....it does fall under my "genius guess"...

Just hope that this is the last major changes in our education system...I dont think we can afford to change so much...really time consuming and "money burning" also...
Anyway, the suggestion of making a complusory pass in SPM English do really counts...at least it shall force students to get a pass...just see what's the decision from the relevant authority when time due....

Another week had lapsed...Classes stories....ACCA issues....

Well, here come another Friday; which implies that we had moved into second weeks of classes. Overall, I think for the class that I had chosen; the delivery of the knowledge seems quite good, with the lecturers of being capable of talking for hours. As for us as students down there, I think every single person is trying hard to translate and disgest what are being delivered to us in ours' mother language.

ACCA qualification and CAT qualification do differ quite significantly in terms of the in depth knowledge that is being expected from the examiners. No doubt that CAT shall built a strong foundation and layout for the progression over to ACCA, but then if this foundation is not strong enough, harsh time really come along, particularly on the three options papers that are available for CAT: Audit, Taxation & Financial management, which built a solid foundation for ACCA skills modules. Obviously, those who had undergone those materials covered in those 3 papers mentioned would have a good starting points for the corresponding papers in ACCA Skills; otherwise for those proceeds from ACCA knowledge modules directly, they shall be having really a hard time for it. You would think something like this: "What the hell is the lecturer talking about?" This is especially true when the syllabus areas are so wide that we need to rush after the limited lecturing hours, for instance Taxation.

Thus, although I had taken quite a "long" time for me to officially completed my CAT qualification; with what I am having now, I do think that building a solid layout first is rather a better choice when compared to having direct entrance to ACCA qualification.

F4 is really like hell, 28 chapters with lots of legal items, Statues, Laws and etc...far more boring then the history subject that we had during high schools days...it do requires much more memorising powers then any other papers....anyhow, after going through, you do gain some legal knowledge; which is quite good in practice, I think. But then, when it comes to memory; this really sounds bads....
And yet there are bulks and chunks of facts to pick, with all legal terms inside.
It will be even tougher for those with poor English command...seriously, this is as "bad" as Paper T5 in CAT: Managing People and System, where all are theories-based questions....clowds are arising when it comes to memorising power...I do hate "dead memory" or better phrase it as "forced memory"...what I am more happy with is "natural memory"...

As for F6, initially I didnt expect to take it for this semester as to me; two laws papers is a heavy load. But then the admin doesnt really allows as timetable might crash...so end up taking ACCA papers in sequences as prescribed by ACCA....

Well, abviously, the lecturer do well-prepared for her lessons; making her very best to drawn up some nice charts and graphical notes for the students to grasp every pieces of Taxation principles more easily from a well-converse tax refrences on the market...as mentioned...I do thankfully saying that I did pass through this whole process during CAT 9, at least there are still something inside my head (I meant at least I still know what Taxation is all about...and knowing how much in depth will we be expected to know); thus still being able to get what the lecturer talks about when she is instead on the "flying mode"...Someone requested for slower speed, but she claimed that if that happens, we would required much more slots, which is fairly true....taxation chapters are a lots....almost the same as F4, just that F4 is rigid; this is more practical...haha....

F5 is costing which is used to be my favourite subject during CAT times...so far she only covered introduction and MC & AC...nothing much new yet....see what's will be going on next week...it's looks like repeatition from CAT course...I think we didnt start even a single new things for F5....see how....and see whether it would still remain my favourite areas for the ACCA qualification or not....

Anyway, since two weeks add/drop subjects period is almost due and everything shall be made final with regards to subjects taken and class groupings (rather lecturers choosing); it officially marks that the "honeymoon" periods shall end and lecturers had told us as students that we all shall be going full swing mode very vey soon...
With the "magical" words, it would meant that the "torturing" processes would begin by then ---- rushing every contents of the syllabus, doing tutorials, reading materials, grasping every important parts of the exams, Tests and mock exams, Revision courses....and finally sitting in ACCA exams hall in due of Dec....All within 5 months periods of time....

Missing AFC skills....

Well, tomorrow shall mark the 5th day of my stay in Sunway. After all, everything appear to be OK and good for me; just that eating really sounds bad. Not only the choices within the campus are limited, those restaurant surrounding there also pretty sad....really wandering how to treat my stomach well....?

Not only limited choices, they are pretty much expensive...much more expensive that any other places....really cannot tahan...

Thus, this is the reason what I meant by missing AFC (Asian Food Channel on Astro) skills....hais....

Officially ACCA students...

After one day of boring orientation (as usual, or else it is not an orientation anymore).

Today started my ACCA lessons with F4: Corporate and Business Law. Anyhow, scheduled time is 5.5 hours, but we spend an hour for collecting our course materials...

Then the lecturer went on to talk for about 2 hours non stop...touching on the overview and some tactic on exams...then went on for her first topics about contract law...which is a little bit familiar from CAT studies...but now having more greater details...anyway, since this is the first class; she went on on quite moderate speed, covering not much topics / pages, but talking a lot more in great details...
to me, it looks like very experienced....hoping that F5 and F6 lecturers have such skills also....

Anyhow, with official commencement of the course; it marks the count down of the 6 months circle for a typical ACCA student...4 months lectures + 1 month revision + 2 weeks exams + 2 weeks holidays = 6 months exactly!
